We are seeking a Controls Designer at our Automation and Assembly division, who is focused on providing world-class technology solutions to our customers while establishing controls engineering principles and practices for the manufacturing sector for equipment such as Battery Tray Assembly and Battery Assembly and Test Systems, Leak Test Equipment, Industrial Parts Washers and Material Handling Automation.
What you’ll get to do
Work with controls experts and manufacturing specialists to conceive and produce practical controls designs for our diverse customers
Develop innovative controls solutions to existing equipment and establish controls standards for new projects
Under the guidance of our senior team members, develop controls hardware designs (electric and pneumatic), create project bill of materials, complete standard design calculations, and verify designs are compliant with customer specifications and industry standards
Work with Senior Software Developer’s to create PLC, HMI and smart device programs
Assist controls manufacturing team during the de-bugging phase of equipment build and possibly provide installation supervision at customer facilities ensuring equipment functions to design criteria
What you bring
Proven ability to work well within a team-based environment, prioritizing plans of action to accomplish objectives
At least 3+ years of relevant experience
Completed university program in Electrical Engineering or college diploma in Electrical or Controls Technology
Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical and/or ePLAN P8; RS Studio, Siemens Step 7 & TIA portal
Nice to have
Experience with motion control, vision, RFID, laser marking, leak testers and plant production
Experience with hydraulics, industrial washers, material handling, general automation and robots
GM Global Common Controls experience
