The basic product is cold drawn, precision ground and polished AISI 1045 shafting with a seam free surface finish of RMS 25 max. The bars are then hard chrome plated by electrolytically deposited layer of chromium metal on the surface. This hard chromed surface confers the important properties of corrosion resistance and wear resistance; it is also very smooth and therefore has a low coefficient of friction. Not least of all, it has an attractive and durable decorative appearance.
